Always refreshing to see other types of BMWs come by to us here at SoCal BMW Installs since typically service a large number of 1 series, 3 series, and 5 series vehicles. Oscar brought us his 2009 BMW X6 which is such a blast to drive. This car has the world famous N54 engine sized into the package of an SUV. Behind the steering wheel it feels almost like any 1, 3, or 5 series with an N54 engine; simply quite amazing! It is here for simple maintenance items as well a diagnosis for certain fuel related problems he’s been having lately. He also opted to get some custom options Coded into the car. The car is in good hands and will be back to Oscar soon once its all back to 100%.

Say hello to summer! Things are heating up, both outside and in our Turbo BMWs. Kenny has a BMW 335i E92 Coupe that he has built mainly for carving the canyons with his close friends. We helped him today with the Walnut Shell Blasting service to clean up his Intake Valves and make them brand new. In addition, with summer hurting power and causing timing drops he has opted to go for a Mishimoto Front Mount Intercooler (FMIC). We got this unit for him in a stealth black anodized finish and installed it for him. He is ready to go for summer and no longer has to worry about heat soak (until he begins tracking the car haha!). Look forward to working with Kenny and his project moving forward; he’s very easy to work with and a young entrepreneur.

We had an interesting build that came by. A customer named Carlos brought his 2007 BMW 328i (E92) which is definitely a head turner. This car has a lot of cosmetics done to the car from all bumpers changed, headlight upgrades, full vinyl wrap, etc! Almost everything you can think of really. The owner is now focused towards maintaining the car and starting to do some mild engine modifications. As most people know, the N52 engines do not make as much power as many of the more common Turbo BMW engines. Carlos won’t be able to make much power with this car, but that’s the beauty of a custom build which allows each individual to build a car to his or her own needs and wants.

It’s always nice meeting new faces. We met a new customer named Cordaro, who just picked up his 2008 BMW 135i E82 Coupe all the way from Florida! The car is all stock, but he has big plans for the car and will surely turn it into a street monster. He is planning to perform a variety of maintenance services to bring the car up to speed and so it has a baseline of service history. The owner plans to drive the car hard and wants to make sure the car is ready for all the abuse he can give it!
Another one bites the dust! Every week we perform anywhere from 3-5 of these services on BMW N54/N55 powered vehicles. This service makes the car much smoother through the RPM band, increases power output (hp/tq) as well as a nice boost in gas mileage. Had Danyel come by with his 2007 BMW 335i E92 Coupe for the Walnut Shell Blasting service. His car is completely stock and unmodded, but hopefully that is going to change very soon!

There is not much than can be said in words. This 2014 BMW M235i is an absolute beauty, no only in looks but what an absolute pleasure to drive this car! One of our friend’s Sam came to visit us recently with a few new goodies he had. Sam is quite a bright young fellow, and has an educational background with a knack for tinkering with cars on an in-depth level. We installed the Burger Motorsports JB4 (N55 Electronic Wastegate (EWG) version) as well as the Evolution Racewerks 4″ Downpipe on his car. The car came to us as a tamed beast, and left quite difficult to keep straight on the road.
We have been seeing many more F2x and F3x BMW Turbo vehicles as of late. The N20 and N55 engines are very popular successors to the famous N54 engine. All of the BMW Turbo engines are great engineering marvels and continue to perform beyond expectations. We hope to make more F2x and F3x customers happy with their cars moving forward as these cars start getting more popular and begin coming out of warranty.
